ZenRockers just released an iPhone application for Team Benns A/S - a danish travel agency. We were responsible for design and development of the application and a web interface for managing the content.

Idoru Finally in App Store:

I started working on Idoru back in june 2007. The goal was to create a simple game for my Sony Ericsson phone.

But it turned out that no one had a Java Mobile Edition phone emulator for OS X. A lot of phone companies claimed to have one but when you finally got through 2-3 registration forms then the emulator was always “under development” or “coming soon”. The only real option would be to test and debug it on windows - and that would just be silly. So the game ended up as a java applet on hassing.org and never made it to a cellphone.

Until now. A mere 3 years later I finally turned it into a mobile phone game. It’s been completely rewritten in Objective C for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. This a brought a few changes to gameplay, higher resolution, music, and sound effects.

Give at try in the App Store.

The game was developed as a side project at ZenRockers I/S.

I have 46 TV channels. Nine of them are covering the Winter Olympics. Seven are covering Cross Country Relay. Two are showing reruns of earlier events. Not a single one is showing the hockey game between USA and Switzerland.

On top of that there is a 8MBit internet connection but all streams are either not working or “America Only”. CTVOlympics.ca (Powered by MSN - so you know it’s good) kindly explained that I just needed to install Silverlight to watch the game. I did so. Then safari crashed. And crashed again. Then firefox loaded the player which just said “The video is not loading properly. This is a temporary problem.”. It wasn’t. After refreshing the page a few times firefox crashed. And I gave up.

So while I didn’t get to watch the game I did learn something. The OS X flash plugin might be slow and unstable but it’s lightyears ahead of Silverlight.
